Are Soapstone Countertops Durable?

Soapstone is extremely durable. It is a metamorphic rock comprised mainly of talc which gives it that soft silky feel. Architectural Soapstone comes in various hardness levels. Our team will walk you through the options in detail during your visit or by phone. If you select a softer soapstone don’t worry, you may get some scratches but they are easily removed with a light sanding or application of mineral oil. Any countertop can scratch or chip, the difference with soapstone is there is an easy fix!
